Our shadow government is controlling the message in the media. Or is it? Taking a quick look at the history of our Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) one would be tempted to slough off the thought that the Deep State is nothing more than a conglomerate of the Establishmentariat working hand in glove with the military industrial complex and feeding their version of events to a complicit news media. In the 1940s through the 1980s, you might be spot on correct. However, here in the new millennium of the 21st Century, things have shifted dramatically.
Wall Street bankers were instrumental back in 1948 in shaping the idea of a new intelligence division and pitching it to an apprehensive President Truman. In fact, the founders and first few directors of the CIA were very wealthy Wall Street bankers. What you probably didn't know was that of special CIA interest was a document known as the Marshall Plan; one used for the purpose of reconstructing Europe after World War II. Inside that plan was a very clever funding device that allowed 10% of the Marshall Plan budget to be funneled directly to the CIA for clandestine and counter-intelligence missions to be carried out across Europe in both friendly and non-friendly nations.
While today's missions continue to be carried out in secrecy, there is growing evidence that the CIA of yesterday, funded by Wall Street and big bankers, may have graduated to the next level of Deep State consciousness...one funded almost entirely by the Fake News Industrial Complex, better known as the mainstream media.
OPERATION MOCKINGBIRD
It was known as Operation Mockingbird and it was used by the newly developed Central Intelligence Agency in 1953 to set the tone and message of the news in order to build consensus among the listeners of both radio and television. A mockingbird, as the name implies, is a bird that mimics or copies nearly exactly the sounds that it hears and repeats them. The idea behind this push into US media by the CIA was to ensure that the average American was falling exactly in line with the Deep State assertions and directives. By steering the message to the public through mainstream media sources, the CIA was assured that public opinion was always going to be behind their efforts, regardless of whether or not the imperative was moral, just or even legal.

In a 1979 biography by Deborah Davis called "Katharine the Great: The Life of Katharine Graham," the author recounts how Graham, the owner of the Washington Post, was used by the CIA for such activities. In addition, Davis claimed that the International Organization of Journalists was created as a Communist front organization and "received money from Moscow and controlled reporters on every major newspaper in Europe, disseminating stories that promoted the Communist cause."
The author asserted that Frank Wisner, director of the Office of Policy Coordination (which was a covert operations unit created in 1948 by the United States National Security Council) had concocted Operation Mockingbird in response to the International Organization of Journalists. They had recruited Phil Graham from The Washington Post to captain the project and according to Davis, "By the early 1950s, Wisner 'owned' respected members of The New York Times, Newsweek, CBS and other communications vehicles."
In a similar move, Hillary Clinton is credited with the creation and implementation of the Talk Radio Initiative (TRI) launched in the 1990s in response to the dominance of conservative talk radio show host, Rush Limbaugh, and his spearheading of a movement that pioneered the future of Right-wing news. THE DEEP FOURTH ESTATE
These days, the script appears to have flipped. Whereas in the golden days of the CIA, where they were behind the assassinations of presidents and world leaders, and deeply ensconced in the toppling of governments and the turmoil of world economies, all the while able to steer the national conversation through their "owning" of the news media, they now appear to be "owned" by the very news organizations they once commanded.
In January of last year, James F. Tracy wrote:
At a 2012 conference held by In-Q-Tel CIA Director David Patraeus declared that the rapidly-developing “internet of things” and “smart home” will provide the CIA with the ability to spy on any US citizen should they become a “person of interest’ to the spy community,” Wired magazine reports. “‘Transformational’ is an overused word, but I do believe it properly applies to these technologies,’ Patraeus enthused, ‘particularly to their effect on clandestine tradecraft’ … ‘Items of interest will be located, identified, monitored, and remotely controlled through technologies such as radio-frequency identification, sensor networks, tiny embedded servers, and energy harvesters — all connected to the next-generation internet using abundant, low-cost, and high-power computing,” Patraeus said, “the latter now going to cloud computing, in many areas greater and greater supercomputing, and, ultimately, heading to quantum computing.”
Even just a short seven years ago, Patraeus could not have predicted that another of his colleagues and successors, John O. Brennan, ex-Director of the CIA, would actually be hired by the NBC news division (MSNBC) as a "correspondent." These ties have obviously been around for nearly three-quarters of a century, but it does beg the question about why the news media appears to now be in control of the narrative while the CIA spooks run around parroting exactly what the Fake News Industrial Complex feeds them. Is there now enough cash in the news departments around the United States and worldwide to feed the government intel monster, thereby supplanting the Deep State with the Deep Fourth Estate? The answer to that question just may be "yes."
Pure and simple, it appears that the American Left and its mainstream media moguls (with the deep pockets of the Silicon Valley tech oligarchs like Bezos, Zuckerberg, Musk, Dorsey, et al, as the unofficial gatekeepers) have now amassed enough power to become the masters of the intel plantation.
One of the intriguing things about the former glory days of the CIA and its "black operations" on foreign soil was its ability to remain damnably outside of the news cycle, able to sustain invisibility to the point of near-legendary reputation. One of the biggest upheavals in CIA history was during the Nixon Watergate scandal, when many of the organization's operations had to be stopped dead in their tracks for fear that they would be discovered, what with all the scrutiny by US investigators.
As such, it is any wonder that the CIA has not put a damper on this whole impeachment process under which the Trump administration finds itself these days.
Why do you suppose that the most invisible of the US intel divisions has not intervened in this travesty of justice; an investigation by Democrats with such a glaring absence of evidence, especially in view of the fact that this process (inquiry) has brought an intense spotlight down upon the intel community?
The answer may be that the CIA no longer runs the daily "black ops" missions. Pure and simple, it appears that the American Left and its mainstream media moguls (with the deep pockets of the Silicon Valley tech oligarchs like Bezos, Zuckerberg, Musk, Dorsey, et al, as the unofficial gatekeepers) have now amassed enough power to become the masters of the intel plantation. With so many ex-CIA officers and agents having flooded the open seats in the media for so many decades, is it so far-fetched to believe that the media wouldn't have the means and the incentive to do so?
CONCLUSION
If the Fake News Industrial Complex now runs the CIA, rather than the other way around, this entire power play between the Trump administration and the media (and how leaks have been largely unavoidable) seems to make much more sense in the broad scheme of things. It also raises many important and frightening questions about where you get your news and how much of it is coming directly from those who now impact your life directly. Once upon a time, it was the shadow government that convinced you through their media lapdogs why your tax dollars had to go toward foreign wars and intercontinental strife and conflict. Now, it is the media that is attempting to convince you through their intelligence community lapdogs why your tax dollars need to go toward a larger federal government, higher taxes, more regulations, less electoral influence (Popular Vote advocacy), identity politics, reparations, foreign wars and the destruction of the US Constitution freedoms that we enjoy and respect.
If the Fake News Industrial Complex has its talons cruelly gripping the reins of our federal government, how long before it also controls the governments at state level? Once the infection of this influence spreads to every community within the country, you can bet your last tax dollar that the next move will be to control the very people within your home. Your children are already under their control inside every classroom in the nation.
The mockingbird can mimic the calls of many other birds and even mimic sounds not found in the aviarius world. Some believe that the mockingbird repeats so much of what it hears, that it eventually loses all vestiges of its only real voice.
